The next Car-free sunday will take place on September 20, 2026. On this occasion, Brussels-Capital Region becomes Europe’s largest area closed to cars. It’s an opportunity to (re)discover the pleasure of walking, riding on a bike or scooter or travelling on public transport in a peaceful and pleasant city. And to get a taste for active mobility!
This year, Brussels is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its metro system. A monumental achievement that continues to grow and evolve. With its 40-kilometre network, around sixty unique stations and nearly 400 million journeys every year, the metro remains one of the key pillars of modern mobility in Brussels. It allows people to cross the city from east to west in just a few dozen minutes. Combined with walking, cycling or using a scooter, it can take you even further!
Today more than 40 services are there to help you to share your mobility in Brussels.
